Velux and Roof Pitch Upstand Question

by drflett » Tue Apr 21, 2020 3:40 pm

I am looking to install a covered patio area and wanted to install a window. The roof is pitched around 14 degrees. I am aware that velux requires a 15 degree pitch but I just cant fit that in!

can i raise the rear of the velux with an upstand of about 40 mm which is all that is required to achieve the 15 degrees? If i do that, how much trouble will there be with the flashing kit?

Any other ideas? I don't actually need an opening window but I cant find a suitable alternative

I am planning to roof the are with shingle tiles

Thanks

Hi drflett,
Suggest you fit a fixed roof window and don't worry about 1 degree difference in roof pitch.
Search for fixed roof window.

Thats good

I cant find many options... And the ones I can find are more expensive than velux's which at least have the option of opening!

Do you (or others) have an idea of where i can find an alternative?

Hi drflet,
Keylite's web site list a fixed roof window, may be worth a call to get a price.

Search on google.com. Maybe you can find somebody who fixes the roof window near your area.
