hi all. We are thinking of removing part of one vertical stud beam in a wall, then placing a large horizontal piece of wood attached to the bottom of the stud and attached to the studs either side. This is so we can create an opening in the wall. Some photos are attached to try and make it easier to see. Thing is I'm not sure if this wall is supporting the whole landing above. If it is would ig still be OK to do this? Thanks. Also how do I know what walls are supporting, all our internal walls are stud walls. Any advice greatly recieved

Hi heskey123
There should not be a problem even if a butt joint has been done in the landing trimmer. Do make sure you are not removing plasterboard coated with Artex with asbestos in it.
