Natural stone cladding over pebble dash advice

Hello! I have just purchased some natural stone cladding i would like about 2m high on external wall. The exterior is pepple dashed, can i clad straight over this or should i remove render? If remove what do i put on block after? Scratch coat? More render? It's a 1930 house cavity walls. Regards
