Barn convertion

I am renovating a barn in france to a gite. The beams are old and rustic and would not suit a varnish so what product would be best to finish and protect them?

see our repairing structural timber project and contact the company (PRS) in there. You can telephone them for free, no obligation advice and they will recommend products for you.
