Hi all I have just bought a small holding and i have a upstairs outbuilding room which i would like to make into a room, it has concreate floor which is all cracked and not level, its the only outbuilding to have it.

why was it done like this? can it be lifted up and replaced with wooden boards?

the room below has a few beams going across and has plasterboard between them. can see anything from below. there is a small hole in one area which has the concreate about 30cm thick and newspaper pushed through it

thank you in advance

Hi mikethesmallholder,
Concrete floor - possibly because it had machinery on it with high point loading. You can probably remove the concrete but you will have to add additional joists to support the new board floor. It's likely you will end up with concrete dropping through the ceiling below - be very careful!
