Fishy smell in new house

We've had a very long snagging list since moving in two years ago, including a strong 'fishy' smell in one of the bedrooms (It reminds me of something like battery acid, ozone or similar). Does anybody have any idea what is causing it and possibly how to cure it? (something left under the floorboards? The windows? Something else?).

Do a search on this web site in the decorating sections. Lots of members were reporting problems with one brand of emulsion - sorry can't remember which one it was.

If its a recent new build I would suggest that if it was the paint then it would be in EVERY room and not just one. Builders like to use just one colour throughout to keep their costs down and I also can't see a builder using Crown retail paint TBH.

it is well known on site that if somebody has upset a builder to get revenge they leave fish in the cavity.
Have seen it done....

ok im new here ..... ive always thought a slight fishy smell was electrical
but thought it was old electrics ... have a sniff around the light fittings

Our new oven gave off a strong fishy smell the first few times we used it. Something to do with burning off the oil used to protect it in transit.
I doubt that's the problem in a bedroom though, unless it has electric heating. Even then 2 years would seem like a long time for it to clear.
