Replacing Support Above a Doorway With UPVC Door and Frame

Hi our back garage door frame seems to support one of the beams / joists of the flat roof , I am now wanting to replace the door and frame with upvc . Will this still be suitable for supporting the joist ? Or would I need to put some extra support in ? If so what would be best ?
