I have 2 unsual doors of the size 710x1940 that I need in panel to match the other 2 doors on the first floor!

I already have 2 standard 30" doors in place from wickes however they only supply 27" and howdens only do 28" 6 panel doors!!!

Would it be ok to take 2" off the Hinged edge to allow room for the door furniture still on teh opposite edge and the height excess off the bottom?

This way the door style are uncompromised and the panels and furniture alignment remain. My problem is will this weaken the door too much especially as I need to hang the door on the shorter edge about 2" width after trim???

Any tips help please?

Some building firms use odd sized doors theoretically to avoid theft from site when under construction. Try magnet trade as they do stock odd sizes. Check the web for their online catalogue.

you don't say whether the door is solid or hollow. if hollow you may find that by removing 2 inches you have no timber frame on the door left to fit hinges to. if solid it should be ok but if panelled make sure that the screws for the hinges won't break out through into the panelled area.
