i have a wooden front door. it now makes a very loud bang when shut quite normally. I can see the remains of what seems to be a plastic on metal strip and i think I need a new one to stop the door slamming....but I don't even know what they are called to get another!

Can anyone help?!!

(you may be able to tell i don't normally do DIY but needs must before my neighbours kill me)

what do you mean by plastic on metal strip? on the door frame or at the base of the door?

you could use foam draught insulation around the frame to help dampen the noise... as well as keeping out the draughts!
