advice on fitting loft ladder

i am about to fit a loft ladder but to get it to work properly i need to turn my loft hatch which would then run against the joists is there anything i can do or problems i may incur whilst doing this or should i get a company in to do it

ptg1174,
Provided you support any long lengths of joist while you cut the new opening and you fit trimmers around the opening you should not have any serious problems. Do not cut through any tie beams.
