Hello everybody. Wondered if you could help me? Have bought three, four panneled internal moulded doors. Have fitted 2 with a little bit of planning into me old frames. But on my third one i need to trim over double the width of the recommended width by the manufacturer? Any ideas? :)

vanman,
Cut off to the width you require and you will then end up with the edge trimmer in the offcut and a gaping hole in the edge of the door. Trim the outer panelling off the offcut and then reglue the trimmer into the door.

Hello Stoneyboy, thanks for your reply.
So rip off the whole end strip with my required width. But when i take off the end strip which goes from top to bottom, Im going to have to rip it down top and bottom to fit between top and bottom strips. Is that right? And wont the door look off centre when it is hung? Cheers for your help

vanman,
As bd3c suggests you could cut equal amounts of each side, as it is a modern door the edge strips are unlikely to be more than 25mm thick so you may have to reinstate both edges - depends how much you need to cut off.
Unless you like the idea of making good two edges I would put up with the door looking off centre - cut off the edge with the lock block in it. The bit you cut off will have the face panels still glued to it and it is these you need to trim off so the edge trim will fit back into the gap between the facing panels.
