Hi
I'm about to replace my kitchen furniture and thinking about white doors and drawers. The kitchen is postage stamp size but very sunny. I'm wondering how white finishes like 'high gloss', 'vinyl', 'foil wrapped', or even a white painted finish, will last. Will they be bright and white in five years' time? 10 years? More? I'm planning on buying decent pre-assembled carcasses from, probably diy-kitchens.com but can't make up my mind on the door finish because of how the white might age. I still have 15-year old MFI wardrobes in a bedroom and the cupboards are still sound but the white melamine(?) finish is nothing like white now.
I really fancy white fronts with wenge worktops; I want a minimalist, urban look and flexibility to play with colour in the paint and blinds. Is white going to stay white – I wouldn't want to have to replace the fronts in anything less than 10 to 12 years, if at all. I don't have kids knocking stuff around in the kitchen, there's only me here.
What do you think?
