Sagging floor joist

Hi all, I have a joist in my living room (near patio doors) that flexes by a quite a few mm when i press hard with my foot (the floor creaks when I walk on this bit).

I've checked the joist and it doesnt appear to be any rot.

Can I do as someone suggested and put a small paving flag down below the joist and put a length of 4" X 2" between the two to brace it and firm it up?

Is there a better or more permanent solution?

I'm looking for a quick fix that would last a few years as I don't think it's a big enough job to warrant taking up floor boards and replacing joists....yet!!!

Thanks

Kevin

Assuming its the downstairs floor? Maybe there is some space between the joist & brick peers. You might get away with packing out the small gap with slate. But as a temporary fix, your idea would be fine.
