I'd like to mend my window

I have recently moved into a property that requires some tlc.

There is a window in the bathroom that is stapled together! (New neighbours tell me this fell out and owners stapled window and kept shut!) The frame seems sound and firmly in place.

I would really like to have a go at mending this myself as it is just a small window and feel a suitable first project for me to tackle. It also requires new glazing from the subsequent fall from first floor.

If anyone can tell me how to start I'd be very grateful :)

firstly we need to know what type of window it is - casement or sash?

It's a casement window

you now need to establish why the window fell out. i'd say it's probably because the screws in the frame or casement at the hinges have split the timber and come loose.

in which case you could move the hinges to fresh timber and repair the damage with adhesive and filler.

only an inspection is going to determine whether or not a repair is feasible. it might be that a complete replacement is the only answer. let us know how you get on.
