exterior wooden cladding

by qoh » Sun Apr 22, 2012 8:44 pm

Hello, I would like to replace some upvc cladding with some cedar wood feather edge. Just a bit worried that the vertical battons arent up to the job. They are an inch thick every 400mm apart. Anyone think its too risky? Many thanks.

qoh,
That's fairly standard spacing but it will depend on the quality (and therefore the thickness) of the cedar FEWB. Bear in mind that unless the cedar is treated it will go very dark (almost black) in a short time.

Thanks. I thought the spacing was ok. Bit worried about the thickness though. I didnt know about it going black though! I thought it went silver. Think i read somewhere that oil every 5 yrs was the answer. I think they suggested TUNG OIL.
