Having purchased my new ceramic butler-style kitchen sink (with drainer), and also my new worktop I would like to make sure that I fit them both properly. My kitchen sink did not come with a paper template, and also I am not sure if a jig saw is strong enough for the job in hand.

Measure very carefully and make a cardboard template Susan and drop it over the upturned sink to be 100% sure you have got it right. Place it on the worktop and drill a hole. If your jigsaw is not "man" enough for the job you will need to get another one.

A butler sink with a drainer does sound a bit of a contradiction in terms to me. Most butler sinks are those really deep square ones.

Regardless, the key question is whether the sink is what they call “lay onâ€
