Removing Bi-Fold Internal Doors - How to get Them out?

by jacs81 » Tue Nov 18, 2014 1:58 pm

I seriously need to get some bi-fold doors out of my life - they are driving me crazy and serve no purpose other than stopping me from having a lovely open plan room! We've tried to take them off but they aren't budging, they seem to be fixed in along the top corners somehow! If I cut the doors out with a jigsaw and the frame is knackered is it a huge job to replace and can anyone give me an estimate of cost? Or am I totally missing something here and someone can tell me??!! Thanks in advance!

If they're the type of bi fold door that are in a normal internal door frame, the fixed hinge point will have a screw/ bolt next to the pivot pin, which can be unscrewed and with the doors in the open/ folded position, the top of the doors can be slid towards the middle of the opening until it drops out of the top track and the bottom pivot pin (usually spring loaded) can be lifted out.
