Advice needed on trimming and then hanging a fire door. Once a fire door has been planed to fit the door frame, do I need to treat the cut edges to maintain its fireworthyness ? If so, in what way - thank you.

I guess you have already done this now but fyi you DON'T have to treat the edges. A fire door is generally constructed from a solid chipboard core with a hardwood edge to the top, bottom and sides. The material that makes up the door is not actually fire rated, it is the density of the door the gives its fire rating. There are two standard thicknesses of fire door 44mm and 54mm,

44mm gives a fire rating of 30 minutes (FD30)
54mm gives a fire rating of 60 minutes (FD60)

Staining and lacquering the edges would be purely for aesthetic purposes,
