Rebate on Router Table and Stopping Splitting Edges

Home made router table work routing edge for glazing bar, edges splitting out on first cut so can't push through to complete cut have to stop router and break off split edge then run through to end.
How to stop the splitting (new but cheap double flute straight bit )
