Hello,

Im about to replace the joists and floorboards in the hallway of my 1930s Semi Detached. They are starting to flake and are spongy in places, though i know ill get a few more years out of them im going to take the opportunity to put under floor insulation in and replace the joists at the same time.

One thing i anticipate to be an issue is the stairs. Im assuming they are fixed to the wall and also the floor. Im struggling to find any advice online on how to handle the stairs when replacing the floorboards and joists underneath them.

my first thought is ill need to prop them up but i wanted to get everyones thoughts first.

Could anyone point me in the right direction?

thanks,

David .
