Hinge Confusion and Identifyiong Type of Hinge

Hi there,

I need some help identifying the type of hinges on the doors in my flat. I've never seen these type before, and am wanting to remove the doors to lay laminate. I was just wondering if anyone could help tell me how to remove them (apart from unscrewing from the frame)? Is there a pin in the centre that can be removed somehow?

Really appreciate any advice.

Thanks!

Hi
They are not too unusual. They are rising butt hinges designed to lift the door over a raised floor as the door opens. Looking at the state on them, the wear and the fact that they are not expensive, it maybe just easier to put new ones on. Just remove the screws, removing the pin is a pain in the butt if you can excuse the pun and you will have to remove the screws at some point in any case.

Just to add. Sometimes with rising hinges the door can simply be lifted off the hinge with only gravity keeping the two sections of the hinge together.

Hi Kitchen Guy, thank you for your replies! We're in a rented place, we've got the nod for putting laminate down, but I don't think I'd want to go and replace all the hinges here off my own back. Think I'll just go ahead and unscrew them then if I can't simply lift them off. Cheers!
