Architrave on recessed door frame not flush with new wall?

Hi there,

First post here so thanks for any help you can give!

I've attached 3 photos to this post to try and show the issue I'm trying to overcome. I recently had an extension and I was hoping to do the skirting and architrave myself. However the carpenter used the old door frame even though there had been new plasterboard dot and dabbed ontop of the old wall.

This means that the door frame is not flush with the new wall so I wasn't sure the best way to attach architrave here? My first thoughts were to glue in some wood to fill the gap and then attach the architrave on top of that but not sure that's the best way especially with the hinges etc?

Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Hi rob1256,
You could glue and pin strips of wood to the frame to bring it out to plaster depth or replace the linings with wider ones.
