Re-paint Gloss Laminate Kitchen Cabinets

Hello all,
I would like to revamp out kitchen simply by repainting the kitchen cabinets. I wanted to find out if anybody has ever repainted gloss laminate before. I assume it will just need a fair amount of sanding and then a good primer.
