Cold drafts abd Condensation

by Housediy » Tue Dec 22, 2020 1:49 pm

Hi everyone,
So i have been getting drafts coming through the low lying kitchen units when I open the doors... Particularly under the sink where the water pipes and and leave the house.... The previous owners looked liked the work they had done was to punch a massive hole in the back of the mdf.... Behind it is drafts and condensation on the pipes.... It appears to be cold in all the low lying units but especially cold in this one.... What needs to be done to fix this please?

Hi housediy
You will have to remove the units and seal holes in the floor, in the wall and around the floor/wall join.

What do you think is the best way to seal the holes.... I mean what kind of material.? I don't know what they look like yet but what if the holes are so big that you can't even just fill them?

Hi housediy
If they are big holes in the masonry wall fill with bricks and mortar, otherwise use expanding foam.
