Hanging glazedoak vanner door with solid interior door

Is it best to use 2 or 3 hinges to hang my door. It's about 23kg and glazed... The previous door was paneled only and about 13kgs. I just don't want to chisel and damage the door and frame more than I have too.
Also the height is quite reduced meaning I might have to take off more than the recommended amount... This is because they have built up the tiles in the kitchen which lead to the door arcitrave, which gives me a step down to the living room...can you advise on this?

Hi housediy
You can either use two 4” ball bearing hinges or three 3” hinges.
Try to cut some off the top of the door as well as the bottom or you will have problems with structural stability.

Hi housediy
Depends whether your new door is solid wood or a veneer on chipboard core. If the door is the latter you might cut off the bottom framing rail which you should attempt to refit.

Sure thing..... Will it just fall out if I do cut too short? What's the best way to get it back in and secure it? Thanks

Hi housediy,
Just don’t know - it depends on the construction.

Hi housediy
Thanks for the link unfortunately they claim the cores of their doors are made up of a mixture of solid and chipboard. Guess you’ll have to cut off the required amount, prepare the off cut and glue it back on to reform the trimmer.

Hey guys so just wanted to ask a couple of things
I have a frosted glass door.... Feels rough on one side and smooth glass on the other.... Its one doors separating the kitchen and living room.
Which way round is the best to hang it... Glass smooth side or rough side?
Also can't find the lock side on it.. Any ideas? Thankyou

Hi housediy
Since both sides will be internal it doesn’t matter which way round it goes - this will be decided for you if the door has been strengthened for hinges and lock.
Either way the glass must be toughened.
