Wasnt really sure where to post this one.

I need a new jigsaw, I've seen a Makita 4329 (240V 450W) at Screwfix for £55.

Are there any others I should consider?

if you spend $55 on a jigsaw, you'll get £55 worth of jigsaw. spend less you'll get less, spend more get more. makita is an expensive brand but they do make good tools. i'd pay that price for such a tool. for alternatives look at bosch. some own-brand power tools from places like B&Q have really come on recently and you can get some bargains if you know what you want.

ryobi are a good make and reosonably priced had a few of there tools and found them quite reliable
if you can stretch then makita or dewalt are more hardwearing

I have a a hitachi a wickes and a makita jigsaw.. .The hitachi is by far the better tool with the wickes second and makita 3rd.. just my choice.
Most of the time I cut 1" solid oak with them...
