I am installing a new jacuzzi and would like to reinforce the joists below it first. Is it the easiest way to install metal joist hangers and then slide in the new wooden joists. The floor is up at the moment. Thanks

IAN,

IF YOU MEANT TO INSTALL ADDITIONAL JOISTS SPACED BETWEEN EXISTING JOISTS, YOU WOULD USE JOIST HANGERS OR LET JOISTS INTO BRICKWORK.

IF YOU WISH TO REINFORCE JOISTS, THEN THIS MEANS BRACING THE JOISTS WITH EITHER TIMBER OR STEEL BRACES SECURED WITH SCREWS/BOLTS AND ALSO ADHESIVE FOR TIMBER TO TIMBER BRACING.

YOU COULD ALSO REINFORCE BY MEANS OF NOGGINS EFFECTIVELY CROSS BRACING THE EXISTING FLOOR JOISTS.(SAME AS STUD WALLING).
