Sabre 29HE Boiler Problem

My Sabre 29HE Boiler broke down at the weekend. Pressure is fine, tried resetting but no joy - getting no hot water or heating - great fun!!
The boiler is just not lighting. Switch on the CH and it goes through its usual processes but stops at teh lighting up bit. The LED starts flashing green which the manual says is a temproray fault - then after a few minutes switches to a solid red whcih teh manaul says is either overheating or primary NTC open/short circuit.
My problem is I've had two people around to look at it and they have given me different reasons for my prblem.
Had British Gas around as part of our Homecar package - diagnosis is the pressure switch - 7 to 10 days order time. Oh and by the way we don't have your boiler on our service list any more so we are cancelling your Homecare agreement bye bye. (Please be aware of this we have had this agreement for two years - anyway that's another issue).
Managed to get anotehr engineer around. His diagnosis is that it is definitely not the pressure switch. You need a new PCB - can't get hold of one - need to order it - another week and very pricey.
Which do I believe? How do I avoid any unecessary expenditure? I obviously need it fixed ASAP as trying to wash/bathe three kids by boiling the kettkle is no fun at all.
Any ideas/thoughts/comments would be very welcome. Thankyou
Gareth
