Rads coming on with shower

by The Janitor » Tue May 13, 2008 7:58 pm

Hi there,

I've a Saunier-Duval F24e condensing combi, for the last week the shower has been running hot and cold. Then this morning was constant cold, however the radiators came on despite being turned off at the wall control. After turning the dial on the boiler to the summer setting the hot water ran hot and cold again. Has anyone any ideas.......really can't afford new boiler!!!!

The mixer shower will be calling for hot water, the diverter valve in the boiler should switch the boiler to hot water, if the water was cold and the heating was hot, this would point to a problem with the diverter valve.

You can get service kits for most diverter valves, this includes all washers, diaphragms and moving parts. This should solve your problem. They're normally reasonably priced, some are onlt £6 or £7, some can be £30 - still alot cheaper than a new diverter which are normally £100+.

Hey htg engineer,

Thanks for the reply. I'll look in to that, it'll just be a case of nipping down to our local plumbing supplier to get the kit?
I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks again.
