After half an hour ignition warning light comes on and boiler shuts down, when I am using my central heating. The radiators all heat perfectly for the thirty minutes. When I press the restart it may run for another twenty mins and then when I press restart it may run for only ten minutes and again if I press restart it cut out almost immediately.

Boiler make and model ?

It could just be pilot needs cleaning, as when the boiler gets hot and the fan is running if you do not have a good strong flame it can lift away from the Thermocouple or electrode.

No pilot, you need to check the igniton leads and electrode, flame sensing lead and electrode, and gas pressures also require checking - so a CORGI registered installer is probably required.

Thanks for your reply. My boiler is a genus ariston, type c boiler, 47/116/14.

It sparks continuosly between the electrodes. I don't know if there is a pilot on this type of boiler. Should it spark all the time and should there be a pilot? Any advice appreciated, Ta

If it's sparking all of the time then the flame sensing electrode or lead is not sensing the flame and relaying it to the PCB.

Thanks again for your reply. The sensor is red hot and I don't know if the continuous sparking should shut the boiler down. Perhaps the control board is at fault or maybe the igniter?? Do you have any ideas? Thanks

Continuous ignition does shut the boiler down, as the flame sensing electrode or board is not sensing there is a flame - so it could be unburnt gas building up I the boiler.

Change the electrode and lead, as it's cheapere than the PCB. But be prepared, you may also need a new PCB.
