Yo All

We're having a combi boiler fitted shortly, with new pump & filter, replacing a 20 year old Flamingo2 that came with house when new.

Old system seems OK, but one rad on ground floor has surface rust on bottom. Is it OK to treat rust and re-paint, or is there danger of leak?Should we have this rad replaced when system upgraded?

Replies appreciated. Thanks

Rather depends on severity of rust but as the system will be all but drained for the boiler replacement, and a new rad' will cost relative peanuts...................
Having said that, I have never heard of anyone ever getting a leak in an actual rad' - but it must happen to someone somewhere.

Hi,
I'd replace it, it will blow on the seam especially with combi pressure!!

I'd recommend replacing the radiator, it may just be surface rust but if not and you convert to a pressurised system and the radiator could burst.
