I have had three boilers condemned, which are all currently powered by oil fuel. One of the two Oil tanks has also been condemned. Seeing as I am going to have to replace a good proportion of the system, would you recommend replacing the tanks and boilers with an LPG system? I know that the cost of oil will continue to increase, however the outlay for the new LPG systems seems to be considerably more expensive. I cannot have natural gas, because I am far too far away from the nearest gas main. Please help!

This information may be out of date.
With oil, you can switch suppliers endlessly, without problem.
I understand that with Calor propane the supplier, leases you a cylinder, with all the pipes and fittings to make it work and, makes a great fuss about safety.
If you want to change suppliers, then they will want to rip out all your existing equipment and install their own.
Take great care to read all the small print and to understand what you are getting into.

As a matter of interest, who has condemned your boilers and with what reason? Have you asked other engineers for their opinion?
Can you be sure that this is not some scam to drum up business?

Last time I did a cost comparison, LPG was far more expensive than oil. I know oil prices have shot up, but so has gas. Now oil is on the way down whereas gas hasn't fallen yet. All the fuel prices are inevitably linked, so in the long term, any variance between types will remain constant.
