Cold Radiator

Hi
This my first posting and would like some help I have a sealed system boiler and the down stairs radiator only gets hot at the top half this is the only radiator with no stat valves can someone tell me how to get the radiator hot all the way down I had to top the system up as it had shut down last week

Hot at the top and not at the bottom indicates poor flow of hot water. Try balancing the system. For help, check the projects section of this site and search for article on how to balance a heating system.

Hi David,

Could be sludge build up,but, I would try balancing the rads first before anything else and bleeding of course (with heating off of course)

If balancing doesn't work, turn off both valves and remove the problem radiator, you will be able to tell by the colour/quality of the water whether or not you have a sludge problem.
