oil or gas?

by Kevschofield » Tue May 15, 2007 2:40 pm

Can anyone help on comparative costs for running a calor gas versus an oil fired boiler for a domestic hot water / central heating system please? I have been told that oil is cheaper, but I have seen so many people changing to calor gas on ebay and selling off their old oil tanks.

oil or gas

Hi you have been told correctly oil is cheaper to RUN but not cheaper to install, I estimate approx 3-4 years to equal cost of install of oil compared to gas, other things to consider are - smell, ie there will always be a slight smell of oil and the fumes smell, where as a gas boiler there will be no discernable smell. Hope this helps. :D
