Hi,

I have an old fashion central heating system with a waterfeed tank in the loft and a hot water sorage tank on the 1st floor. The heating system is working just fine and all radiotors heat up as desired but for some reason, the water in the hot water storage tank is not heating up. What could be the reasons for this? How is the water actually heated up in the storage tank? is it heated electrically or is it heated up by the gas boiler when on? I'm not sure how the system works. Anyone can explain in non technical words?

The water could be heated by either method or even a combination of both and without knowing more about your system it is difficult to offer any advice as to the reason for your cold water.

Have a look at this project and see if you can identify which system you have.
