i need to move a radiator and the only place i can put it with out having to either re-direct the pipes or rewire the plug socket is above a plug socket which is a single.I would just like to know how far above i should put the radiator as i can have it a good 10 inches above, if need or a bit more.
if any 1 has any ideas that would be great

Locate the radiator wherever you like.

Don't you think it'll look abit odd having a radiator above a socket ?

If the top of the socket is 6" from the floor, then the rad 10" above that, 21" radiator - from floor to top of rad will be 37" Use a tape to measure that - it'll be half way up the wall.

I'd get a blanking plate and blank the single socket, fit radiator as normal, one socket less but a better job.

yeh thanks for the reply but unfotunatly i need that socket as it is the only 1 in that area of the room !!!!!!

If you are moving the radiator surely you have to changing the way it is piped anyway. Or am I being thick?

You should not have a radiator above an electric socket - what if it leaks? Move the socket.

Hang on a minute, surely the existing rad must be above the socket as it is as other wise you would have to repipe anyway.

If this is in a up stairs room, the simplest solution would be to lift the floor boards and move the socket by changing the ring underneath. Really is worth the extra 30 mins to do it properly.

cool thanks ppl i have decided not to put the rad above the plug instead i am just gonna move the rad a few feet from where it originaly was as i have finally measured every thing and the heat wont interfere with my new tv thats going up on the wall as i have decided to use an adjustable bracket to keep the tv off the wall so more air curculates around, and the heat from the rad(which would have been directly underneath) wont interfere with the tv. :D
