Hi Gary,

Can you pinpoint the noise.

Could be all sorts of things eg, air, pump, valves, kettling, debris, explosive ignition etc

Hi steve the gas

The noise kicks in about a minute after the boiler ignites. It seems to be roaring between the boiler in the kitchen and the hot water tank in the airing cupboard.
Is it possible to get air in the pipes and how would I get rid of it.I have bled the radiators and there was no air in them.
The system has been emptied and flushed within the past couple of years so should be clear of any muck, any ideas?

I reckon I would carry out a complete drain down & start again also a re dose of inhibitor, bleeding rads downstairs first.

It sounds like kettling - a buil up of limescale etc in the boiler and primaries. Add system descaler and leave for recommended time, drain, flush, refill add inhibitor and see how it goes.
