Due to a bad leak and probably age, I need to replace a Primatic and a water tank, both of which were leaking and have cause a ceiling to partially collapse. I have been informed that they can't be fixed even though the leaks are via connections to each cylinder/tank. Is this correct?

I have also been advised that since the boiler (a balanced flue Baxi) is old too it would be better all round to replace the lot with a combi boiler. Is this good advice bearing in mind that I might be able to either get the primatic and tank fixed, or just replace them.

If it's the welds on the tank.cylinder that have gone - then they probably cannot be repaired - if it is just the connections as you say - why can't they be repaired ? did the plumber give a reason ?

As for the boiler, it's down to you. If it's running well, not costing too much to run or too much in repairs then why change it ? Many older boilers I work on are in excellent condition, and have many years hard graft left in them.

I would replace the lot, I had a primatic too, and my hot water was brown as the waters were mixing. You will gain space as losing tank and get more efficient.
