Hello,

I need to discover the type of central heating installed in my home. I'm pretty clueless on this subject and was hoping someone here may be of help.

I will provide you with the details and hopefully you can fill in the blanks. I live in a second floor flat and have a Potterton Suprima 40L boiler located in the kitchen. I have a large tank located across the hall from the kitchen in a cupboard. There is an immersion heater in this cupboard also. I have a thermostat located in the living room. Will there be a tank in the loft serving all the flats? There is only three levels with 3 flats on each floor. I have read that this is a non-condensing boiler, is this correct?

As I said I am pretty clueless and would just like to know how the systems works? I know it is like being back at school again but would be extremely grateful for any help.

Some of your questions are unanswerable over the ether. For example I haven't the faintest idea whether your boiler is non-condensing or not irrespective of gut feel that it probably isn't. If you provided a make and model number that might be easier but then again if you looked on t'internet for that make model you'l probably get your answer.

It's not a condensing boiler and the tank in the cupboard will probably be an Elson tank, providing hot water and water to the heating system, there'll not be any tanks in the loft providing all the flats.

All you have is the timer/programmer, three port valve, immersion heater, tank stat, room thermostat, boiler and Elson tank.
