hello hope someone can help.
bentone ST 108 combi boiler installed
but only a 3core l/n/e from an apt timeclock to the boiler was put in for it
i know this is wrong as
there is a 6 pin plug at the boiler

i looked at the otherside where this will be plugged in and found five wires coming from it
brown blue earth red and a black of which the red and black were a smaller size

what i would like to know is, what do each of these do?
brown=permanent live
neutral
earth

whats the red and the black for?
do they control the pump for the central heating?
should a roomstat have been fitted? to control this

ive been looking on this site and have seen stuff on volt free stats
so what type stat should be used with this bentone?

any help would really be appreciated

The only Bentone ST108 I can find is simply an oil burner and not a combi boiler. Is this right as any advice based on this could be completely wrong.

Hi, are you sure this is a 'combi' boiler?
doing a search it suggests it's actually a 'greenstar' HE oil fed floor mounted system boiler!
The hand book suggests supply as you have but directly fed not via clock, to terminals as you say plus the link wires are for external 'stats. etc.
suggest downloading book from google search and check what you have, then repost with any info. will try to help further.
If it is a combi then there must be a direct live feed or if remote clock for heating is off or room stat satisfied no hot water will be possible,

full name is bentone STERLING 40 ST108PL

an oil burner.

The model number you give only refers to the oil burner make not the boiler it's self.

As far as I can tell. the three connections L1 N and earth are power input. L1 can be either switched or permanent live.

The other connections T1 & T2 are for a separate timer or room stat if you wish. If this facility is not to be used, the two need to be linked together.

Exactly how the burner is fitted and connected within a combi boiler I cannot say.

I got the info for wiring by searching for "Bentone ST108" and looking at the tech info on the Precision Heating website.

was getting hotwater with just the input connected
but as there is no hot water cynlinder for storage i was thinking it needed a perm live???

as it is now i think it better to hav it operating on timeclock

the main concern at minute though is gettin the radiators on
so by looping T1 and T2 = radiators on???

then get a roomstat installed inside soon for better control.

As I say, the Bentone ref only refers to the oil burner mechanism and not the boiler itself.

Exactly how the CH and DHW are controlled I cannot say. Supplying power and linking T1 & T2 simply allows the burner to fire. There must be other controls involved.
