I'm about to install a copper cylinder (old one sprang a leak) and i've never done this before. System is vented/indirect. New tank is an Albion 900x450 grade 3 foamed. Here are a few random questions...

Should i use anything at the brass/copper joints... PTFE? Nothing? Something different?
There is no drain on the bottom of the cylinder so i plan to stick in a hose at the top and syphon the water out. Anyone got any other/better suggestions?
Any other things i should look out for?

Use plenty of ptfe on every threaded part. Be careful how you tighten couplings as the tank is easily damaged but will leak if not tightened enough.

Beware of disturbing the nuts which fix the primary coil. The seal can be broken.

How you suggest is the only way of emptying the existing tank.

Oh, and one last point, it is actually now against the building regs for an unqualified person to fit a cylinder.
