I want to install a room thermostat and have decided that a digital wireless one would be prefect, can anyone give me any advice on this matter and where best to purchase the said item.

Make sure whether you need a 240v or volt free model, then search on line and read the reviews. Some models are very complicated and need every on and off setting to be set for each individual day.
