Hi there, a DIY nOOb here. :)

Just bought a new house and have removed the Gas Fore (Well, a Gas Plumber did). My plan (which I passed by the plumber) was to plaster board over the hole in the wall but I have read on several forums that I may need to install a vent for air flow - this was to be a feature wall so I'd prefer not to. :(

The flue is not shared and I believe it is a pre-cast flue (looks like: Google "instagas.co.uk/photos/flue_3.jpg"). The property was built in 1990.

Could anyone please advise me on whether or not it is necessary?

If its an internal flue and you can stop water ingress at the top you may get away with sealing the bottom.
For a flue on an external wall or one where the chimney stack is porous or you cannot prevent rain entering the top of the chimney you will have to ventilate at the bottom.
