boiler vents

i have a baxi bermuda boiler and do not use the fire how much ventilation is required for me to put some sort of decorative cover in front of my fire?
do not put a cover over this,if the fire is still there this forms part of the flue and should remain in position as these appliances are designed with the fire on them
