TRV - Shutting off

Hi,

I have a TRV that I need to shut off so I can remove the rad and then get the system running after it has been shut off. The lowest setting is a frost setting which means that although I can remove the rad, when I try to pressure the system back up water comes out of the TRV. I guess this is because at the frost setting the TRV is not fully shut off, so how do I shut the valve fully off? :?:

coastiefrank,
There should be a screw-on cap which replaces the trv head this turns off the water completely.

You will have difficulty buying the cap as a separate item. Temporarily shut the valve off by fitting a small coin such as a 5p between the thermostat head and the pin in the valve.

If the valve is to be left unattended for any time, buy 1/2" and/or 3/4" caps to block the water connections then no accidents can occur!
