A mate has a back boiler the pump is in the middle of the living room under the floor boards. He wants to remove the bathroom radiator and replace it with a towel rail. Once its on what is the easiest way to bleed the pump without taking up the carpet and floor boards?

There has to be a good possibility you won't have to.
Just drain the air off from the rads and bleed valve in the airing cupboard (if fitted) until the system is full and keep your fingers crossed.

you don't always have to bleed a pump, only if it is air-locked and squeals after you refill the system. A less effective way is to start and stop the pump several times in quick succession, that can sometimes clear a minor airlock, but having the pump under the floorboard is a pretty daft place to put it.
