My central heating was installed in 1977 and has the original Grundfos Pump
which has failed; do these still exist as direct replacements to save having a revised installation to accommodate a modern design.

Can I use an immersion heater for hot water without a working pump?

The old grudfos pumps are a slightly differant design to the new ones. I dont think the heads are interchangable. Although the length should be the same, so a new complete grundfos pump should fit between your old pump valves easily. You should not have to alter any pipework to get it to fit.

And yes, you can use your immersion heater for hot water without your pump. It will not work for heating though. You will only get hot water. This of course assumes your immersion is not faulty!
