Cannot bind Honeywell CM67 Thermostat with HC60ng relay.

I had to replace my old Honeywell HC60 boiler relay with a new HC60ng model whilst still using our Honeywell CM67 wireless thermostat. In order for them both to work with each other the HC60ng has to receive signals from the stat. I followed the binding proceedure implicitly over and over again but all I'm left with is a red flashing light which then turns to a solid red light and a flashing green light every 3 seconds - which apparently only confirms an unsuccessful binding process.
I'm wondering if I'm missing something obvious or not.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me - please?
