Apologies if this is a bit of a noob question, but:

My mum has a Honeywell TRV on her radiator which has sheared off at the plastic fitting - here's whats left:

Here's the fitting it came out of - a female locking ring:

I bought what I *thought* was a suitable replacement which would allow me to fit the new TRV without any fannying around with the water system itself. Here's what I bought:

Problem is that valve has a female locking ring built onto the valve itself, which mates to a male elbow valve. I need the opposite fitting. Are these still available or do I have to drain down the system and fit the new male elbow which came with my screwfix purchase?

Here's the fitting it came out of - a female locking ring.

The locking ring should unscrew completely from the valve body - use a wrench if tight, unscrews anticlockwise looking down. You can then fit the new head - set it to max to make fitting easier.
