Central Heating Water leaking Into Hot Water System

Hi. I think my CH water is leaking through into Hot Water system, and vise versa..
It started ?? I think when had a leak in CH System, had to drain system, but it just kept running even overnight ( small trickle). Now hot water is discoloured, and Cold Water header tank is overfilling and coming out overflow . May, may not be linked.

My system is Vented, powering 8 radiators via a Potterton Suprima 40. Whole system fitted 10 yrs ago.

Any help gratefully appreciated.
Alan.

Hi
You've described every symptom of an internal leak in the hot water cylinder. The only answer is a replacement. This should be regarded as urgent, as the fresh water in the system could be causing rapid corrosion of radiators, and boiler damage.

Yes, exactly what I was worried it was, probably heating coil in immersion tank. This is only place the two meet .. ? ?

Also main header tank has been overflowing , prob due to CH Water forcing back through tank, and return to header tank ?? Possibly.

So as system is 10 yrs old, would it be time to consider changing heating system boiler to Combi system.
Otherwise would replace tank now, then if boiler breaks would have to keep system, or throw away new tank, if going to Combi System..
Or will this be a BIG job, what with redirecting all pipework etc.
Also all pipework under floors / in walls is Hep2 with push connections.
Does this make any diff using a presssurised system. ??

With thanks.

Alan...

Sorry I've not got back before. I can only suggest getting some quotes for the work as soon as possible. A personal opinion, I'm old fashioned and not at all keen on push fit. Can't beat soldered joints on copper.
